Kos

Basking in turquoise Aegean Seas, the Greek Island of Kos is the third largest of the Dodecanese Islands.  Known for its hot summer sun, sandy beaches and history, its no wonder Kos sees guests time and time again.

Kos, the birthplace of Hippocrates, father of modern medicine, with traces of this rich ancestry which are scattered around Kos Town, and in the nearby Asklepion, the most significant site in Kos. Besides the walls of the harbour front castle of the St John Knights is situated the plane tree where Hippocrates is said to have tutored his students, are amongst the many sites to visit on this island.

Warmer waters and brisk winds characterize the northern beaches of the island, where Tingaki is particularly good for children dues to its shallow waters and long sandy beach, with fantastic vies of Turkey.  On the south coast towards Kefalos waters are calmer but considerably cooler but are where you’ll find the best beaches on the island, Paradise and Bubble Beach.  If its heavy nightlife action you’re after then Kardamena is the place to go. Bars, pubs, clubs a discos pack the streets of the resort with many open until sunrise.

For excursions further afield take a day cruise over to the volcanic island of Nisyros.  After disembarking, buses take you up pt the crater rim where you can walk down to the sulpher encrusted floor.  The picturesque port of Bodrum on the Turkish mainland is dominated by its spectacular 15th century castle and less than an hour’s ferry ride from Kos Town.
